On June 3rd, the Clay County Commission honored and recognized the quick response of three Clay County Rangers that led to a life saved. Corporal Sean Benjamin, Ranger Melissa Mahoney, and Ranger Jeremy Monaco responded to the aide of a 55-year-old woman who was struck in the chest by a bolt of lightning while fishing in a remote area at Smithville Lake. For those that offered their thoughts and prayers, we are happy to report that the woman is home and recovering. We would like to thank our Ranger Division for their service and commitment to our citizens and park patrons. Read more and see the news story...

On May 6th, Clay County honored Older Americans Month with a proclamation. Clay County has over 40,000 residents age 60 and above; we are fortunate to have such a large and active senior association with numerous services and resources for residents. Only 55 Missouri counties have levy funds to support seniors. Read more...

The new irrigation system at Paradise Point Golf Complex will have nearly 40 miles of pipe and an equal amount of wire. At no point during installation of the new system do we intend to have more than four holes under construction at any given time. Read more...

Public Comment Period

Clay County will hold a Public Comment Period on Friday, July 19 at 4:00PM at the James S. Rooney Justice Center, Division 5 courtroom. All comments will be shared with the County Commission, and participants will receive follow-up within 24 business hours.

 

Public input meeting announced

Please join us to see the future of our Clay County Parks and Historic Sites.  We encourage the public to attend and offer their input and ideas.  The open house-style meeting will be held at Paradise Pointe Golf Course (18212 Golf Course Rd, Smithville, MO 64089) from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 16th.
